Sonny, although registered as mine, lived with, is loved by and belonged to my daughter Hannah and her partner Glenn.
Sonny was an adorable dope. He was the clumsiest dog ever and probably had the biggest fan club of any dog in Hertford. He was well known in the town and spent a lot of time around the town centre with my daughter Hannah and Glenn who have a few local businesses.
He loved nothing more than bombing round the local park with hoards of doggy pals and liked leaping into the river where he swam like a fish.
He was very accident prone and seemed to feel no pain. On one of his many collisions with stationary objects he hurt his hind leg. We didn't pay much attention to it and all seemed to be well for a while but as the weeks went by we realised that he seemed to have a permanent limp and muscle wastage on that side. After a trip to an orthopaedic specialist he had an operation on his hock joint to remove some bone fragments and then 8 weeks with no exercise at all.
This all happened in early 2010 and unfortunately he always favoured the injured leg. Because of this his show career was very brief. The wins from his few month in the show ring are listed below.
Sadly late last year ( 2019) he developed a huge swelling on his healthy back leg. This turned out to be a nasty, cancerous tumour and we lost him early this year just short of his 11th Birthday. We are all devastated and Hannah and Glenn have lost their beloved boy. Sonny was perhaps the most photographed dog ever as he was so photogenic. He was a one in a million and I hope he is reunited with his mates that crossed rainbow bridge before him. Until we meet again sweet boy, run free xxxx
